Special Needs Kids

ABC recognizes that every child is special and unique. However, some kids are born with or develop exceptional challenges. These challenges often extend to the entire family, and ABC takes pride in welcoming “special families.” There are many developmental advantages to climbing, and we know how to maximize these benefits and have a great time doing it!

We have extensive experience with a large variety of challenges, including Autism, Aspergers, Pervasive Development Delays-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), ADHD, ADH, visual impairment, hearing loss, brain injury, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Penelope’s Syndrome.

While ABC welcomes everyone we also strive to meet the needs of the entire class as well as individuals. Before you sign your child up for any ABC class or service please let us know if your child has a diagnosis or any other particular needs. With this information we can provide the best experience for everyone.

ABC also offers private lessons for kids who may need or want one-on-one attention. Sometimes this is the best way for us to evaluate which class is best suited for your child's needs.  We also have an experienced Occupational Therapist on staff if you would like for your child to have an occupational evaluation or to develop a plan for participation in ABC.

If you have a question about how ABC can work with you, want more information on a class, or have a comment or suggestion, please email Katherine at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. She is our Developmental Climbing Specialist, climbing instructor, and the proud mother of two ASD kids who have been through and benefited from the ABC program. Welcome!
